Why Do We Need Religion?

The essence of religion is beyond the realm of people in league with dull intellect.

All religions are journey from ”God with attributes” to ”God without attributes”.It’s journey from ”God with form” to ”God devoid of form (read formlessness)”.

Before you realize that life is nothingness or pure consciousness there are several stages.Religions merely let you know the steps but realization is beyond religious scriptures.

Small children are taught that ”A” stands for Apple even though it’s not the ultimate truth.However,it serves the purpose.Religions, customs, beliefs etc.also do the same.They give you the elementary knowledge , making us capable of apprehending the highest truth-NOTHINGNESS.In other words, don’t ignore the importance of religion in our lives if we are really interested in shattering the illusion called life

Well said and well thought out
To recognize that what we call reality is only a consensus reality (only what we have agreed to call reality) is to recognize that we can perceive only what we can conceive

Very well said.Your responses show that at least you have tried to be original in your ideas. I hate stereotyped responses.People these days don’t like to think.They give tailor made responses.

Your answer reminds me of a very good story heard long time back, wherein five blind men touch different parts of elephants.They all come out with different versions of elephant..ha..ha

That’s what happening with so-called intellectuals...

Concept of Hell may be integral part of Christianity and Muslim religion but in Hindu philosophy the concept of hell is not of great importance.In fact, Hindu religion is aimed at transcending ”Maya” or ignorance.It’s basically the philosophy of leading a balanced life.

The believers of religion and God are afraid of going to the so called hell. The concept of hell has made their life a hell.

I like your analogy because the elephant could represent all religions of the world and the different cultures of the world could represent the blind people of the world and the blind would come up with different ideas as to what each felt putting us into the mess we are in today ,because of that elephant

The story tells us that we should not arrive at conclusions without knowing the issue in totality.We have the habit of framing conclusion too soon in our times.

It is impossible to get rid of religion, but there are a few who see why religion and God is just a wastage of time?

@Ian

Let there be just few who come to treat God and religion a wastage of time !!

Religion is the opium of masses and people are behaving under the influence of this opium. That’s why there are so many religious conflicts here.

@Juan

It’s not opium for masses but panacea for majority trapped in all sort of ills.Religious conflicts are the result of humans’ ignorance.
