Stating The Right Way To Eliminate Dangerous Minds In India

Let’s shatter the myth that confidence building measures can stamp out seed of hatred from the heart of enemy.The tale becomes sorrier since UPA government,being trapped in inherent contradictions,lacks a concrete agenda to combat terrorism. To put it simply a strong line of action and determination to bulldoze the breeding grounds of terrorism are the only ways to ensure peace and stability in the nation.In retrospect,it’s time to for the government to rise above dirty politics played in the name of welfare of the minorities.The flawed policies of inept and corrupt leaders have turned India into a soft state.The problems like Naxalism and terrorism have spiraled out of control because of lack of vision in leaders at the helm of affairs.

Worse,there is little hope,the way appeasement game has come to dictate the state of affairs,that government would stamp out anti-national elements from its land.It’s obsession for welfare of minorities has tied the hands government in framing policies for evacuation of illegal migrants in Assam and West Bengal.This has encouraged ISI to take advantage of chaos and confusion prevailing in the Indian subcontinent.It would be foolhardy to expect present government to carve a tough line of action .

The death of innocent people should by now give rise to sense of disillusionment in the hearts and minds of those who believe that anti-national elements could be curbed via display of benevolence.Yes,life goes on but it does not mean to become obvious of the lessons it offers through tragic incidents or,for that matter,absolve the perpetrators of such heinous crimes.

It’s still not too late to realize that Pakistan is like a horse which needs to be whipped from time to time to keep it in a desirable direction.Let’s accept the harsh truth that the continuance of dialogue with Pakistan has not resulted in downfall in terrorist activities.Let’s not commit the blunder to pursue a soft policy towards a nation adept in treacherous means,to an extent that even bus or train services started to Pakistan have turned out to be mediums to plant terrorists in India.There is no need for government to have a green signal from its Western counterparts which,given the conflict of interests, is never going to come. However,government needs to rise above its inherent contradictions to frame a comprehensive policy to weed out jehadi elements. It’s the absence of ‘collective will’ within the nation,which has encouraged the agents of al Qaeda to assault the integrity of nation.Unless we come to tame the silent supporters of jehadi operatives in the nation,it wouldn’t be easy to curb the treacherous influence of foreign aided terrorists .At least it should become clear to Pakistan there is no scope for it to spell disaster in India via Salahuddins and Dawoods .

Had India taken bold steps to eliminate people involved in weakening internal security,supported by strict laws, it would have provided sigh of relief not only to commoners but also to security men now forced to live on the edge all the time.How can we claim to be on the road to development when ordinary citizens are being subjected to dog’s life,being vulnerable to terrorist attack almost anywhere,anytime?It has become a routine thing for our rulers to deliver contradictory statements during critical moments either to shrewdly defend the culprits, owing to their nexus with minorities , or buy time to defuse the tension .It’s really tragic that our Prime minister cannot do anything other than asking people to remain calm or speak about “tough measures ” which we all know are not going to surface as long vote-bank politics rules the roost.Only God knows when this realization is going to dawn on our rulers that neither foreign help nor knee-jerk reactions but determined approach with hard-core strategies will alone provide its citizens opportunity to reckon with real peace.At present,it has become their fate to intercept illusory peace as the real one !

The ideal way to bring right changes would come through the electorate who need to be judicious in electing their representatives for the highest posts . Let our voters become conscious of the fact that group of right men/women alone can put the nation back on tracks.Certainly one can’t expect people immersed neck deep in corruption to shape the future of nation in a desired way .

How can you say that UPA lacks in concrete agenda in combating terrorism? Does the combating terrorism mean to have draconian laws like TADA and POTA?

Elias Bhai I agree with your view that we are not in need of draconian laws.However,having said that, what else could be the way to foil the attempts of terrorists ?

After 9/11 in the United States, the United Nations Security Council adopted the Resolution 1373, which directed all member-countries to enact suitable laws to prevent and combat terrorism. The US, UK, Germany, many democracies enacted new anti-terror laws. Pota was created in this light.

Why are the laws meant for fighting terrorism seen as anti-minorities in India ?

Bush was trapped in same dilemma.He too faced the same allegations that Muslims are being harassed but he paid no attention to such shrill cry.He had the guts to go ahead with his plans only because national security was above such orchestrated protests.

In India the tendency to appease Muslims is supreme and our national leaders don’t have that guts to ensure that concerns pertaining to national security remains above politics!!

"determination to bulldoze the breeding grounds of terrorism" and you know what are those grounds? Hunger and poverty. First of all we need to solve these problems to tackle the terrorism.

@Yash

You are right but the greater truth is that terrorists backed by foreign powers are not the result of ”hunger and poverty”.You need a proper strategy backed up by right mindset to eliminate them.

What type of tough line of action do you want from the government? Do you want the arbitrary arrests of Muslim youth just to show that we are fighting back terrorism or you want fake encounters to terrify the minorities.

@Yash

The type of attitude shown by the US and other European countries to weed out dangerous elements from their land.How many terrorist activities have happened in US after 9/11 ?

During the UPA Government’s previous rule, terror attacks have taken place in Jammu, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Bangalore, Samjhauta Express in Haryana, Imphal, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Malegaon, Jaipur, Delhi, Guwahati, Mumbai. In Mumbai itself, there were serial bomb blasts on running trains, carried out with military precision, on 11th July 2006, in which nearly 200 people died apart from the attack on Nov.26,2008.

Don’t you think it’s high time we do something concrete to send strong signals among the wrong doers ? Are we waiting for another Nov.26 ?

You are right that Pakistan need to be whipped time to time but we can't forget that dialogue is the only way to solve the conflicts.

@Ketul

Yes,dialogues is the right way to solve contentious issues.However,the dialogues serve little purpose when the other side is more interested in wrong means than means favoured by civilized actions.

When are these dialogues going to produce results ? Look at the ”nautanki” taking place in name of dialogues.Holding a dialogue to create better environment for future dialogues..hehehe

@Ketul

Dialogues should always be followed by strong line of action.What has happened in Lalgarh?

Vijay Bhai Yeh Batayein Jab ”Cancer” last stage me ho to doctor ko kya karna chahiyen?

Go in for operation,chemotherapy etc. or just give an assurance that you will be alright ?

The problem in India is that anyone talking about tough measures against terrorism is considered to be ”Anti-Muslims”.That’s the greatest obstacle.Unless we realize that tough laws are being created not to harass Muslims but to remove dangerous heads living among them,I don’t think we can ever be able to do something concrete in direction of terrorism free India.

@Vijay

Prevention is better than cure.Unfortunately,the Indians have developed a strange habit.They act when it’s too late.We just don’t know how to nip terrorism in the bud !!

Dear Arvind,I absolutely agree with your views and concern for the country.Prevention is better than cure and yes,therapy if needed must be applied without delay which otherwise is dangerous if its allowed to be grown.

For all the problems we must blame the Police , Intellegence Agencies who were not performing their Duties. It is the Duty of the Local Police to see that bad element of any type is not breeding in their Jurisdiction , Political Parties in Power make Policies, which has to be within the Constitution of the Country, Pota or Tada were for fast trial. During pre Independance days Intellegence Agencies were doing their Job, and getting all the information of Congress close door meetings ,Capability of such officers after Indendance were not appreaciated as they were impartial so were side lined. My father was in U P. Sub Inspector , than Known as Special Investigating Staff ( SIS) now LIU under District Supt Police, The S. I. used to get Charge of Police Station as Kotwal or Thanedar after 5-6 years of experience as called Second Officer,to Kotwali incharge.My father was promoted to the post of Inspector, in 1942 within 6 years of his appointment. He was the Youngest Inspector in U P, during British Rule , in 1946 he was posted at Meerut, when in the end of 46. Hindu Muslim Riots started, His duty was to provide information about people responsible behind such act so that Police can take preventive measures , In the year 1947 or so he sent a report to Lucknow Office that Mr. Umadutt Sharma who was Secretary of Congress Commettee from Meerut is instigating Hindus. The matter was sent to than Collector Mr. Vinod Chandra Sharma , who favoured and sent back that the report biased and recomended to remove such Officer, on the report he was transfered to the parent Department of Civil Police lucrative for the Bribe, Police is playing safe in their own interest so we should not Blame Govt. but Officers. who run the Govt. an officer is within his right to refuse illegal order of even P M

@Capt.

You are absolutely correct.The officers should have the guts to differ with the opinions of their political masters.A High Court judge once remarked that it’s shame that officers are not able to refute the viewpoints offered by their juniors.

Anyway, the Intelligence Agencies should track all their loopholes to avoid embarrassing failures in future.
