LANGUAGE DILEMMA

ARVIND K.PANDEY

I have come to intercept another article at Instablogs which proclaims about having an unbiased approach in the matters dealing with language .One needs not to be Einstein to understand why it has made its entry .

Anyway , let me make it clear that championing the cause of Hindi ,being in tune with Constitutional provisions , is no crime . Those who find it against the interests of other communities are the one’s who have totally failed to bring in application their minds . It’s not the battle of Hindi vs English or , for that matter , Hindi vs rest of the other Indian languages .It’s simply an attempt to give not only Hindi it’s due but also prevent the distortion of language at the hands of negative global forces .

Sadly , some so-called readers tried unsuccessfully to project it as Hindi vs rest of other language and in the process the real message got diluted .Being smitten by the credential bug ,some of them even tried to block the debate forever .I hope now they are licking their wounds .

Anyway , Constitutional provisions are no joke .You have to be in league with them .There’s no choice .It’s not a question of imposing a certain idea by force , it’s more a question honouring the rule of law. Remember , no one is above the ” rule of law ” .

If one can take the help of Constitution to create a mess in the name of ” Secularism ” , I don’t think there is anything wrong in championing the cause of Hindi - a legal and valid right of every Indian .

Problem is that if you try to impose a language on people whose mother tongue is different from it like in the case of a Marathi being forced to use Hindi, then things will start getting ugly. The dilemma is that people don't understand that this is a sensitive issue akin to that of colonisation. In this case it is cultural or linguistic colonisation.

Dear Vinit ,

Don’t you think that there is a need to create awareness about the whole issue ?
The directive laid down in the Constitution makes it very clear that promotion of Hindi should not ride roughshod over the sentiments of non-Hindi speaking people .Anyway , it’s duty of every citizen that it becomes a link language across the country .Above all ,there is urgent need to prevent it from the onslaught of negative global forces .

You vitriolic words against commenters in your previous articles have made your potential readers stay away from perhaps reading but definitely commenting on your articles. Always try to be polite with your readers.

Dear Sonu ,

I am also against the introduction of harsh comments .But did you come to notice the malicious intentions of some of the readers ?I was also not very happy to bring them into application but I was left with no choice other than to tackle them with a greater force .A dirty fish in a big pond can dirty the water and that’s what took place .They left no stone unturned in creating problems of all sorts .Interestingly , if one does the close reading of the article one would come to notice that it was never against the interest of non-Hindi speaking people . Luckily , I have been successful in clearing the air .Let’s such confusions and distortions become the thing of past
