Some sections of our Media have gone overboard while analyzing the persona of Mayawati. The media has projected an exaggerated version of her better qualities. These so-called better qualities of Mayawati are just like mirage that gives impression of water in the desert. In my eyes there is nothing like her wrong patterns of thinking have overshadowed better side of her personality. The truth is that she is almost devoid of right kind of beliefs.
I was too impressed with some of her qualities. Now having watched state of affairs in her reign, I feel it’s time to shatter illusions regarding her.
Look at the way she addresses senior officials. She has utter disregard for their persona. I don’t think that such an Hitlerian attribute has to do anything with”a tough administrator”. That’s why one of the chief secretaries was forced to go in for VRS.My father is a senior government official. He and other officials are very unhappy the way “Dalit equations” are being used in the offices. That’s not only hampering the smooth conduct of procedures in offices but also making officers insecure of their future who are quite aware of the fact that a different view other than the one sponsored by the “Behenji” group means suspension. The mindless suspensions may look good eye in the eye of common people but that’s not at all a good precedent.

Visit any Police station. They have become “Big Adda” of BSP leaders. You cannot dare to arrest any criminal, belonging to lower caste. The BSP leaders are quick to make life hell for that police official. No wonder, Allahabad has a new police chief after few weeks. I am sure that’s the case in other districts as well. The “goondaraj” of SP has been replaced by the “jungleraj” of Mayawati. The Tata Sumos bearing the flag of SP has now been replaced by the Tata Sumos bearing the flag of BSP-the symbol of terror on the road !
Their leaders are engaged in “official extortion “.Are such things indicative of good administration? The criminals belonging to lower caste are having good time. They can molest women, hurl bombs and threaten the businessmen, to name a few. Nobody can dare to take tough actions against.

Some political experts talk about her quick decision abilities. Her two major decisions related with cancellation of appointments of the policemen made in Mulayam’s period and Ganga Express Highway Project have been overturned by the Court. The judges were in bitter mood while passing the judgment in these two cases. They were left shocked to see utter disregard for norms while making important decisions.

Mayawati is fighting against all odds to provide legitimacy to her stupid beliefs! It’s a proven fact given the way she has tried to implement her impractical ideas into reality.Thank God she failed to become PM ,or else, whole nation would have been playing statue-statue.
What can be said about a politician who loves statues more than human beings?
She’s a mindless woman who is suffering from a peculiar disease related to obsession with monuments and statues.
It is highly possible that the next step in her able administration will be to erect monuments to honor the already erected statues and monuments!
I’m serious, there are very high possibilities of this weird idea coming true.
That’s a wonderful observation. Thanks a lot for showing the real side of Mayawati.
But I wonder are others also conscious enough to know the Maya’s ”Maya”?
Every leader is suffering from obsession. Why not to discuss those? Congress leaders are suffering from US and privatization obsession (obsession for statues is very old) . BJP leaders from hidutva obsession (obsession for naming the institutes after BJP leaders is well known). why only Mayawati is being targeted?
Every leader is suffering from obsession. Why not to discuss those?
I agree that most of the leaders are suffering from some sort of obsession, but...
Why do you want us to target the others and ignore Mayawati??
Let’s start with Mayawati, we’ll discuss the other leaders when we are done with this mad woman.
Thanks.
I don’t know about others and their reactions but Hiten (and a couple of others on this thread) definitely seems to be illusioned by Mayawati’s ”Mayajaal”
:-)
Even Google’s automated ad system seems to be impressed with Mayawati’s able administration.

To differentiate between good administrator and autocrat? An autocrat can also be a good good administrator. One might have to behave autocratically for improving the situation.
The autocrats run the risk of turning into dangerous dictators.
The problem with Mayawati is that she is not aware of elements constituting good governance. One cannot expect an autocrat to bring right set of reforms if he/she is unaware of intricacies involved in running a government in league with Constitutional provisions.
Most deserving things that she has done are heartwarming. She has established four Engineering colleges where 75% of the seats go to the Dalits. While the land acquired, being to be under construction, the academic session has already started in other institutions. She has also reseved one fourth of the Government Ternders to the Dalits.
The down drodden and the oppressed of the people find the bright future.
You can say all this sitting from Chennai....to have a real taste of things in UP, you have to be a resident of the state - as the writer of this article is and so am I!
Is our society constituted only of Dalits? Is her social engineering aimed at improving Dalits only?
Did we choose her as CM to construct statues of herself and other leaders? What’s the gain ?Who has given her the right to spend unreasonable amount of public money on lavish birthday parties, construction of parks etc.?
I don’t think that this has to do anything with good administration.
Why you people are making hue and cry over the statue issue. Congress and BJP has the history of wasting the public's tax payed money, why that has never been an issue? Why BJP has always been so eager to name the institutes after its leaders? Why there are statue of Indira, Rajiv and many other Congress leaders allover the country?
I am presenting excerpts from an article published in a very reputed truly secular magazine Frontline. It’s an old article that narrates the sequence of events in her previous stint as CM.She has remained the same ,and therefore, the article is still very relevant.

She, who began her political career as a fire-breathing leader of the oppressed Dalits, and eventually became Chief Minister of the State for a second time, has ended where she began. In fact, she is much worse off now than she was when she started her public career. She had no cases against her then, she was not smeared with the sleaze of murky deals like the Taj Corridor project; nor did she have to face accusations of having made crores of rupees personally, buying and selling land and houses in parts of the State and even in Delhi.
She had a huge birthday party - a spectacular affair, by all accounts, on which enormous sums of money were spent, which came from the kickbacks she got allegedly from the Taj Corridor business. (The media have reported that her closest and senior most officers, her Principal Secretary and the Chief Secretary of the State, have told this to the Central Bureau of Investigation.) But that was a trifle; her behaviour was much more that of a monarch, imperiously moving officers around, oblivious to the havoc it caused in the administration, arbitrarily deciding what was to be done first - installation of statues was given very high priority, for instance - and so on. And any critical comment on her action was instantly pointed to as an instance of discrimination against Dalits.
Uttar Pradesh is virtually bankrupt. All right, so are other States, but it did not seem that the near-bankruptcy of the State caused her to lose a night’s sleep. Her progression through the period of her chief ministership was marked by lavish spending on whatever took her fancy. Which of course included the Taj Corridor, it would seem, going by media reports quoting CBI sources. And there is clearly substance in what they have said; the Supreme Court would not, otherwise, have directed that she be charge-sheeted along with the officers accused in the case.
But whatever Mulayam is or is not, and whatever the fate of Uttar Pradesh, the true tragedy is in the fact that Mayawati failed her own community. Made giddy by power and the perquisites of office, and by the wealth she seems to have accumulated, she ceased to be a true leader of the Dalits, who would keep their interests always in the forefront. The community desperately needs an articulate leader who has its confidence trust and respect, and who can not only take centre stage but bring the problems faced by the community centre stage as well. Mayawati could have been such a leader, and chose not to be. And now she cannot even if she wanted to. That is what the real tragedy is.

Nobody is targeting Mayawati.I wish to know that if others have committed some blunders in past does it give Mayawati the license to repeat the same mistakes? If we are not highlighting the mistakes made by other leaders does that in anyway lessen the intensity of crimes committed by Mayawati?
The truth is that Mayawati is one of the most corrupt politicians of our times who is devoid of better perceptions other than fetish for statues, parks, transfers, suspensions and birthday parties!
You have committed a logical fallacy. You cannot punish the whole group for the mistakes committed by few corrupt officials. To be in absolute majority doesn’t grant one the power to play with the bureaucratic norms.Mindless transfers are the most painful experience for any efficient and corrupt official.Worse, they hamper the execution of important public related schemes.

Mayawati looked like she’d turned a new leaf when she came into power again, promising to clean up the administration and the law and order situation. Now allegations are rife that all she is interested in cleaning up are the state funds.
It may sound like the opposition party leader is saying this .. but dont we know it is very true every politician in power wants to make the maximum during their tenure!
She is no better than Jayalalitha!!

Why do we discuss Mayawati every time? There are so many politicians worse than Mayawati. I think media is deliberately working against Mayawati. She is not a good administrate but she is not so bad.
It’s not a mindless criticism. Her criticism is based on facts in light of her erroneous decisions. We cannot turn a blind eye to her arrogant approach in key policy matters.
