INTERNET : DESTROYING PEACE OF MIND

ARVIND K.PANDEY

The Internet has turned out to be surest and easiest medium to inflict injury on one’s and others reputation to attain a short-lived fame among the crazy netizens .Well, such well-engineered public shaming which takes the world by storm ultimately open gate of disaster for the so-called bigwigs in the field of politics , entertainment and sports . These rubbish caricatures and lampooning might appear to be innocent and hilarious gestures in the eyes of some but they never lead to healthier developments .What’s the point in making Internet a source of distraction and cause of worry for the people who don’t want their privacy to be torn into pieces by irresponsible individuals ? Here in India , the Google and YouTube have become the most favourite medium to post the nude , semi-nude and obscene matter about influential personalities dead or alive .The problem has replicated into strange complexties because , unlike developed countries , the developing countries have not yet developed effective mechanism to successfully sabotage the cyber criminals .Needless to state , it’s time to turn Internet in healtheier and safer medium .

Well, I agree with you. But do you think it is possible. Can anybody in today’s world think of a life without internet.

Every good thing comes with a price.

Dear Kumar ,

Thanks for your comments . Yes , life without internet holds little meaning but aren’t we paying a heavy price ? Worried parents , troubled government and anxious individuals seem to suggest that misuse of Internet is giving sleepless nights to its users .

What I think and believe is that all new inventions come with some dubious aspects related to them and this thing needs to be understood. Say internet, while opening up various vistas of human knowledge and creating a definite sort of information revolution is clearly a subject to the clutches of hackers, porn-lovers, indecent infiltrators and so on. It all depends on the individual which aspect he/she chooses or avoid.

Though, it was an eye opener and a well- carved article. Congrats!

Dear Desh,

Thanks for your compliments . You are correct in your observation . However , I wish to add that human mind is potentially destructive in nature .Precisely , this is why hackers belong to a very educated class of people .These computer-friendly guys have the will power to engage their minds in doing something constructive. But we find them engaged in all sorts of cyber crime .

I am a regular visit to various cyber cafes operating in my city . They told me that most of their clients are the ones using internet to download pornographic material . A very small percentage of them come to use it for better reasons .

My dear friend , today computer has made its entry even in the middles class homes . You can very well imagine the state of affairs in these homes !!!

Anyway , like to see you more often on my site with such thought-provoking responses .
Yours,

I quite agree with what you seek to propose in your write-up, and also what others propose in their comments as well. The internet is a boon and bane, both at one and the same time.

But, I subjectively feel, that it’s more of a bane! Often at cyber cafes, I have seen men, in all age groups, ogling at girls on various social networking websites.Thats online leching.

Photos from these social networking sites are easily and conveniently used by these hyenas to use it for their lusty purposes.

Cyber crime has escalated to such a height that parents, (mine for example) declare my merely checking the mail, as a HEINOUS ACTIVITY. But it’s not their fault, even me and some of my peers are now apprehensive regarding using certain social networking sites,(have still not been able to upload my picture partly due to this reason).

I guess one has to act with judicious refrain in the modern times to stay away from any mishaps, coz there are millions out there ready to create havoc in someone elses life and growing technology is helping these people to further their means of vice...

Till then its only rational to stay secure and use the internet within limits!

Dear Shahwar K ,

You have really come to intercept the essence of my article .I too wished to convey the same impression but others seem to be carried away by the so-called advantages of Internet . Though I am very well aware of the advantages ushered in by Internet , I cannot overlook the menace engineered by it . I would like to inform you that in most of the cyber cafes I see young girls and boys engaged in meaningless chatting for hours . Needless to point out the damage caused by the social sites wherein half of the users are ipersonating themselves as SRK or Aishwarya .

Above all , some dubious hackers are destroying personal and social lives of bright young people by playing with their personal details . It’s very dificult to ascertain someone’s identity on net -”He” could might turn out to be ” She ” in case of Internet !!

Those who are in awe of Internet’s usefulness should also come to take note of ever-icreasing cyber cells established to heed to the greivances of the Internet’s victim .

The problem is that, evil minds are equally sharper or even more intelligent and faster than the engineers. It’s not that our government or engineers are neglecting the cyber crimes, but when a new software is created, efforts are also made by many to check it/disable its function.

Ya ! it’s true, the cyber crimes are rising rapidly, and sometimes makes us think how to trust the internet at all. But we are depending on internet for various works. The world can not go without it.

Let’s hope on our scientist and engineers to keep us safe from all these problems

Dear Sasmita ,

You sound like Shakespeare .He has mad evil appear beautiful in his plays ! Anyway , our dependence on Internet has come in the way of its total elimination .Earlier we used to study in the lantern’s light but now our dependence on electricity has left us incapable of studying in lantern’s light .

Well, world has always witnessed battle between evil and goodness . And I am sure ,like always , goodness would once again emerge as winner .

It all depends on the purpose of user. If his intension is good he finds the best thing in the world on internet. It’s the biggest library and workplace for live things and all depends on your search. Normally you can’t move to all places physically and talk to everyone personally, but internet has given you power. Use it for good sake or Misuse it for anything.
