Amartya Sen rightly states that reservation should not turn into a medium to widen the cracks of society by promoting divisiveness.A balanced approach which does justice to linguistic,cultural,ethnic and religious diversity would alone ensure better future for the Indians But will the politics of appeasement and caste-oriented venom ever let this dream come true? A big nation like India is embodiment of various shades, being hub of different cultures.

Today when we are at crossroads,it has become need of the hour to view the contribution of various cultures in right perspective. This can be better done done by historians guided by non-partisan attitude while assessment.This would also reduce the scope for self-proclaimed guardians and fanatics to create problems in the name of religion.
